Does anyone know where a reloader can get these Accutips by Remington for purposes of reloading?  Are they the same as any other bullet, just a different color?

Thanks,

Mike

"Accutip" bullets are available from Remington only in their factory ammunition.

Well, to be honest, I don't use, and will probably never use ANY of the plastic tipped bullets.

In practical terms, I would have to take a guess that they are all about the same.

I'm not sure of this BUT I think the varmint bullets are Hornady V-MAX and the big game bullets are also Hornady SSTs. Might be Nosler BTs but I think they are made by Hornady.

These days there is a LOT of "collusion" going on between the various ammo makers and it is not all clear and up front.

ALL .17 HRM ammo is loaded by CCI I think. Don't believer there are any exceptions to this at least not among US manufacturer names. They use bullets made by either Hornady or Speer. Same for the now newer H2 ammo on the old CCI Stinger case.

TC has added a line of ammo under their name but Hornady makes it.

There are several other examples. It is no longer safe to assume that just because an ammo maker is also a bullet maker they are necessarily making the bullets in their ammo.

I can't prove it but to the best of my knowledge and research Remington does not actually "make" any plastic tip bullet. They buy them from Hornady and Nosler. But Sierra is getting into this plastic tip business and they may also be making them. The makers don't discuss such matters as it's not really some thing they want the whole world knowing it would seem.
