Belted rounds hard to load in Encore Rifle
« on: September 22, 2004, 01:56:01 PM »
I have a 300 Win Mag barrel for my Encore. When I push the cartridge in the chamber the belt on the case hits the extractor and does not want to go into the cylinder without a little effort. Is it me or is anyone else having this problem? I would hate to be in a situation that I needed a quick follow up shot and was playing with the cartridge. Any Suggestions?

You might try "tweaking" the extractor so it doesn't engage is so hard. Might have to bend it down just a little bit. I did this to my 450 marlin barrel and it works great.   KN

I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but You probably won't need a follow up shot with that cannon.

You are most likely right. But I would like to know I would be able to if I needed it.

I could take my Tikka in 300 Win Mag, like I did to Alaska on my Caribou hunt, but I am trying to eliminate the extra luggage and have the Encore in a break down case in my large bag.  :D
