Please..Need info before I order

i'm going to put an order in for some nosler 300 grain partition protected point bullets for my 45-70 Handi..Has anyone got any load data using these bullets or know of some web site that would have it...I'm leaning toward IMR powder and trying to get 2100 feet per second...Where should I seat the bullet at? Most load data I've seen is a COL of 2.550 but the one load I found for this was for a trapdoor with COL of 2.400..Doesn't that sound like a rather long jump to the lands from the throat?

Go to Stevespages.com.  I haven't looked for that particular caliber but he seems to have about everything else.  Lots of interesting stuff there also.

My BC had no room for long seated bullets.  I'd say seat them to mfgr specs.

Natman:

Getting 2100 fps with the Nosler is a lot easier than you think...all you have to do is pick up the Nosler  #5 edition and you can see that...their data is for strong actions...ones capable of sustaining 35,000 cup and the Handi's can do that and more...albeit..your shoulder might give out first.....my favorite powder to use is H4198..out my Marlin 1895GS...this has a 18.5 " barrel and I averaged around 2288 fps wiith it...and it will shoot 1"---1 1/4" groups easily...remember to never start out at a max load and always reduce them by 10% and work up 1/2 grain at a time...each rifle will be different...pick up a few good reloading manuals and have fun....by the way...they will tell you what lenght to trim and load to in each manual...the 300 grain Nosler is one of my favorites for the 45-70...

Marlin/NEF have stated the NEF/Ultra's are safe to Marlin 45-70 load pressure levels, for a reference when you're looking it up.  Don't go up to the Ruger #1 levels.
