Are Tritium sight pins worth the cost?

Cabelas sells ONE Tritium pin for $26. Who has one on their bow?

Are they really brighter? Twenty-six dollars plus $5 shipping brighter?

Save the 5 bux and have your local shop order them from truglow and YES they are worth it...You will get on average ( according to your eyesight) about 20 more min of pin visibility...I have my 20 and 35 pins in trit..And boy do they outshine my 50 regular fiber pin..was well worth it..I was lucky I didnt have to spend any money on them as I got them from a Factory rep But I would spend it in a heartbeat if I had too...

There is a very good reason why nearly 100% of police are using tritium sights on thier guns. I do pack trips in the remote mountain areas of Washington state with a string of pack goats. Several years ago I had one killed by a lion. I sent in my 44 magnum mountain revolver to the tritium factory to have those night sights custom fitted to my revolver.

With these sights I can see them in 100% total darkness. I know your saying why would you even shoot in total darkness? Well fom within a tent it will be 100% dark but you can see outside the tent with the moonlight. So from within the tent you can shoot at a bear or lion which might be threatening my pack stock. What good it a gun when you cannot aim it in the dark?

The Tritium is so good, I'm having it added to the front sight of my 458 Lott work rifle too. Tritium is the only wya to go unless it's legal for you to use a light for your pins.

I favor the Tru-Glo, they are visible, and reliable.

here is my take on it. you can see the pins better when it is dark, but chances are that is all you will see. the glow robs you of your night vision, you will lose sight of the target when it is dark. i didnt believe it either, i had to have it proved to me. now i know. besides, most places i hunt there is no need for it because there is ample shooting light during legal hours.

In my experience, hunting in heavy cover, I lose sight of regular fiber optic pins when there is still 15 or 20 minutes of legal time left, especially when trying to sight through a peep. I have used the Truglo which offers the advantage of bright fiber in good light, and tritium glo in lo light. I like it very much. I have also used the tritium pins that are for old fashioned pin sights. They are not as visible during normal light, but are very visible in low light. Neither is bright enough to ruin your night vision. Its just a dull glo a little brighter than the numbers on your watch.

I have since upgraded to a Holosight which is even better.

Any idea if Archers Choice will ever make a tritium pin??? I would use the TruGlo (I think they will fit), but they are a different length. I guess I could buy a full set of sights, but I'd rather just buy one pin.

I have the Truglo set up that I may be willing to part with. Today is opening day and I'm trying out a new Holosight. I don't want to part with the Truglo until I'm sure I like the Holosight. Works good at the range, but need to "field test" it.
