For some of you that need pictures posted, whether you are selling something or want to be able to show a picture of yourself or something you bought and either don't know how, don't have time or have no place to do this let me know. I can post them and send you a link you can post or share with whomever you want to. Just thought I'd make the offer here.

Thanks much, mightly neighborly of you.  Wish we could just cut and paste to put them right in the posts but probably would take too long to load.

If it's somebody you know I'd be happy to anyway. I have one site theat I just use for my stuff and those that have sent me something in this manner. One guy had a wagon he built and wanted folks to see so it doesn't need to be something for sale. I set up a site for my wife that we have never really used so I have so extra room.

OC,

It's a mighty generous offer, and I may want to take you up on it.  I have a scanner, so what  file format do you prefer, and how large can each photo file be?

Don't like being a "user" without providing something in return.  May be the only thing I can give you is a hard time.  Seriously, I have a fairly comprehensive Old West/Gunfighter/reloading/shooting/hunting,CAS reference library, and would be more than happy to share info with you.

Sorry Captain, I must have turned off the "notify me" for this thread. I think a jpg would be best. Any size is ok if you mail it to work. If to my yahoo account I think they have a 1.5MB limit. It may be less now.

If posting on a site like this you really need to keep the width to 450 pixels or less. Otherwise it is so wide many folks have to scroll left to right to read the text in any posts in the thread. I'm one of them. I won't do it. I just skip that thread.

Also the final size of image to post on sites like this really should be kept down to around 25-35 Kbytes max. Many still use slow dial up connections and it can take forever to down load the larger images.

GB,

What Old Cane is offering is to post my images to a web page of his and assign them URLs so I can post a URL instead of an image in the body of a post, etc.  My initial desire is to post some photo URLs in your Members Intro and Gallery.

Ol' Cane is making you a very generous offer. It is a lot off work and can be a pain in the backside to do this for others.

Over on the Blackpowder Cannon and Mortar board we have posted instruction on how to do this.  Here's a link to our picture posting STICKY note.

Double D,

Many thanks for the info.  Looks like I'll be able to do it my own self now.

Old Cane,

I think Double D got you off the hook.  Surely do appreciate the generous offer though.

I just like to offer in case someone doesn't have time to find a place to post the pictures to begin with. I have this site and don't really do much with it. Another one I do nothing with. They give me 50 megs of space om each so I can do quite a bit. Not enough room to make a living so I just tinker with it.

I wouldn't think anyone would send a huge image but I can take large emails in case they want to send a number of photos in one large package instead of making a bunch of small packages to send. Some zip well, some not at all. I know if you only have a hot mail or yahoo email account you can't accept big emails. I can with my work account if needed. I get 40 and 50 meg emails all the time with software packages so a bundle of images would be nothing out of the ordinary.
