WELL, I GOT THE GPR FLINT LOCK LAST WEEK AND FINISHED IT THIS AFTERNOON. LOOKS GOOD TOO. USED LAUREL MOUNTAIN TO BROWN THE BARREL, BUTT AND TOE PLATE AND THE TRIGGER GUARD. EVEN BROWNED THE SCREW HEADS. HAVENT GOT TO SHOOT IT YET. THANKS FOR THE INFO AND SUGGESTIONS. NOW I GOT TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO BUILD NEXT, MAYBE A CUB RIFLE FOR MY DAUGHTER, SHE'S SEVEN, CAN'T START TOO EARLY.

Great, now you got to get out and shoot it! And then tell us about it. One thing though, I would suggest you start the little one with a bb gun. (no noise, no recoil). Teach her the basics, get her shooting well, and then get her to help build her own gun. You will build some great memories, even if the gun is not the best. My kids always "helped" with my various gunsmithing and knife-building projects.
P.S. From one shooting dad to another, try to shoot as much as you can with your kids. Some day they will turn into horrible monsters called "TEENAGERS", and this might be the one and only bond they cannot cut. That's been my experiance.
