
I have visited gun shows and shops from one end of this country to the other. Book value as in "Blue Book of Gun Values" (and other books, as well) is a good reference, but by no means do they give the value in a specific area. It seems location has quite a bit to do with value. For example, in many large cities the high capicity autos demand the most money, while in some western areas of the country revolvers are in high demand.
To answer your question, you didn't say what caliber the 226 is, but a .357 in NRA VG-NRA EX should go for about $500-550. If is in the 9mm it will go for a few dollars less, say 450-500. That is an average price and may differ slightly in your area. :wink:
