Optronics Night Blaster Compact
« on: September 21, 2004, 08:35:39 AM »
I'm considering the purchase of an Optronics Night Blaster Compact scope light. That is the one with the 100yd spot beam. It's $42.99 + shipping at Cabela's.

Anybody have any experience with these? Are they ample for 100yds or should I consider the 250yd light? My blind affords me less than 100yd shots with the feeder at 75yds.

I'm considering buying it to increase my Hog hunting time/success. This year, we're only going to be able to go to the family ranch in TX for a week at Thanksgiving.  We usually go two weeks, but the youngest started Kindergarten this year so we have to work around that.

With Deer season coinciding with my Thanksgiving hog hunting, I though night hunting would be more productive as the pigs usually go nocturnal from the deer hunting pressure. Or, at least double my hunting time/fun!

i have  both  the  100 comopact  and  the 250, advantages to both  if you are going to use  the red lens only  then get  the 250 as it  will illuminate up to 100 with  the red lens  take  it  off  and  you  can see close  to  250   the  compact  is  much lighter ansd lower profile  and  is  great    for  stand  shooting  up to 100 yards   the  red lens  works  ok out  to about 50 yards.  also if using  a  heavy recoiling  gun  the red lens may pop out   it  did on my 45-70 shooting the pmc .  make  sure you buy a few extra 6 volt batteries also
Hi  enjoy  hunting  guns    teaching  my  2  daughters  about  hunting  and  boxing

Thx for the info.

I think I'll order the 100yd compact. I won't need more that 50 - 100yds of sight and it'll be on top of a 6.5 x 55 swede so the kick is moderate.

The wife reserved plane tickets for 11/20th thru 30th so I've got TX Hogs at Thanksgiving to look forward to.

Started putting together my handloads with a 160gr Sierra SP in front of 40grs of RE22, in Winchester brass with Winchetser primers.

In the mean time, its Bow season here in CT :-D

Well, I found a decent deal at Opticsplanet.com. I bought the Optronics NightBlaster GL-200 which has the 30 watt bulb. I didn't think that the 15 watt in the Compaq series would be enough for the full 100 yds. It was only $10 more than the compaq 100 and free shipping was included.

I can't wait to try it out in Medina County at Thanksgiving time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TomD,

The 200 is the one I am going to purchase befor our March hog hunt.  We used the 200's the outfitter supplied us with on our last hog hunt and they worked just perfectly.

Wise choice there,

Dave :D

TomD,

Looks as though Cabela's may have bought out the Optronics Night Blaster I have been talking about.  Here it is and I do hope you and I have been talking about the same thing.
