I have both the 375 JDJ and 45-70. If you stick to the anemic factory 45-70 loads, you should have no recoil problems. Handloading, is another story. After a few stout 45-70 handloads, the 375 JDJ is a pussycat. BUT, like Chris said, these are not calibers for a beginner. Both are capable of fierce recoil-definate flinch causers. Try one before you buy it!!
