big bore heavy kicking contenders

ive been looking into a big bore hand gun i already have a blackhawk in .44 mag  i am looking for a contender in a bigger caliber. preferably not 454 casuul just a little bigger maby.  45-70 or 375 jdj.  If you have any recmindations on calibers in those regons your imput would be appreshiated

sage man ,you seem intent on getting some recoil! You should try those big boomers before you pay a bunch of $ to find out they CAN hurt you.
  Did I read in an earlier post that you are 16?

I have a 444 Marlin in one on my Contenders. What a beast, but a great shooter.  :D  The 454 Casull is not chambered for the Contender, to much pressure for the frame.

I have a 45-70 and a .411JDJ in a 14 and 12 inch Contender. Both are hand fulls of, blast, recoil, and power. I seldom shoot the 45-70 anymore but son#1 loves it so much so that it is his only hunting gun (big time bow guy). The .41JDJ is another of my .41 caliber collection.  I can get it screaming but load it to the very lower levels of safety in that big .444Marlin case so all that power is really wasted on me. I shoots very well at 1400-1500fps with 170g -210g bullets.

I just got a 41 GNR barrel from Gary Reeder, pushes a 170 grain HP at 2100 FPS.  Less kick then a .44 mag with better MV and range

I have both the 375 JDJ and 45-70.  If you stick to the anemic factory 45-70 loads, you should have no recoil problems.  Handloading, is another story.  After a few stout 45-70 handloads, the 375 JDJ is a pussycat. BUT, like Chris said, these are not calibers for a beginner.  Both are capable of fierce recoil-definate flinch causers.  Try one before you buy it!!
