What do ya'll use for hearing protection? The muffs just don't work or look right with our hats and all. If there is a major cost involved let us know that, too.

Most shooters at our club use ear plugs. A lot like to use the custom molded type, or the rubber type plug with an attached cord to keep from loosing them, but I prefer the ones that are made of foam and are disposable. You can use them several times, they ARE washable, you get about six pair at Wal-Mart for two bucks, and most important of all, they WORK. Check the decibal rating on the back and you will see they have a high rating. Only ear muffs fair better, and they can shift with movement and allow sound in. Also, they are hard to use with safty glasses. :-D

I use the Sonic II's they're light easy to use, allow you to hear normal conversation, not uncomfortable and best of all they're pretty cheap....'er make that frugal to use! :-D

I think one of the vendors that goes to the larger SASS sanctioned matches makes them. I don't have a pair, so I'm not sure. I can't even remember if the vendor was male of female. Sorry I can't help any more than that.

Hey Ranger, I meant to ask, how ya doin' with the "flue-like symptoms"? I got that crap just before thanksgiving and it was after Christmas before I felt human again.

Thanks for asking Butler,
Getting better but now and then have some reoccurance. This past week-end/holiday was the pits but got well in time for school (be a school teacher during the week).
Doc says this is the "Houston Crud" and can hang on just about forever. If we move from this fair metropolis to a better climate it would help but can't afford to. Still have a few years till I hang it up.
Found out last April that I am diabetic and don't fight colds and the like as well as I used to. Also 57 years old doesn't help any.
All in all, doing as fine as can be expected. Have to stay well as the CAS match is this week-end, Hee, Haw!

The E*A*R molded foam plugs provide the best protection for your hearing that is available on the market - they are also very inexpensive.

These are the ONLY ear plugs allowed in the high noise ares of our power utility.

I have never used anything else (except David Clarks in aircraft) and have extraordinary hearing at age 53 (ask my ex!)

I use Sonic II & some S&Ws I found at Wally-World. Both work well in CAS.

I worked in bands for over 25 years. LOUD bands. Some of the guys I worked with out here from a well known country act that will remain nameless (somebody junior) are some of the loudest guys that ever hit a lick. I tried the Sonic II in high school. I have a strong wax buildup in my ears so mine circumstances are a little different. I never got them to work right. Mix wax with sweaty conditions and you get all sorts of things growing in there. Torn napkins work well for stage but not for sharp reports like you get shooting. I've had great luck witht he twist up/throw aways from Wal-mart or anywhere else. The artillery used them so that says a lot.
