Because the barrel is now somewhat shorter it is also somewhat more rigid, and tends to be somewhat more accurate. I'd leave it alone because the .270 is capable of getting so much out of even a 22" barrel -- and you really haven't lost that much. Incidentally, the barrel time being reduced on this rifle might, I say might, help the barrel last a little longer.....though probably not by too much.
I think about such things because in the past, up until this summer, I'd put a lot of rounds through a rifle in one shooting session. I didn't have the time to replenish my ammo as I used to.
I wouldn't do anything to it. It is now a little handier than it used to be, and hasn't lost that much in velocity.
