I have a Rem 700 BDL SS with a 24" barrel. On top is a Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5x10x40 sitting on Leupold dual dovetail bases with medium rings. The problem is I can see the barrel in the bottom portion of the FOV on 2.5-4.5 power. It takes up 1/4 of the sight picture. I have never had this problem on any of my guns.

Is it the wide angle thats picking up the barrel? Gun is holding .5" groups at 100 yds off the bench and has taken 2 deer so far this year under 70 yds.

No one has a Elite 4200?

I only have a 4200 4-16x40 on a varmint rifle. But I do have a 2-7x leupold on a BLR. On the lower power settings I can see the front sight but it's not an issue, I've ignored it for over 20yrs. If it bothers you, maybe removing the front sight is an option. The only other option would be to install higher rings, not for me, I like my scopes as low as possible. It may not help that much, anyway, with the FOV on low power being what it is.

Thanks. If I had sights, it would take up the whole FOV. I had a 3x9x40 Trophy on this rifle with the same mounts and never had this problem. One Bushnell said there was a problem with the scope (obj out of alignment) and one told me that nothings wrong.

I have a 6-24x40 with low rings on a heavy barrel 22-250 and it is no problem with mine. If it is too much of an issue just go to medium rings and get it up off the barrel some. But if it way me, I would leave it alone if it is shooting good, unless it is a big problem.

The question was asked and answered already on one of my other forums here. Maybe bolt action rifles, not sure.

You DO NOT have a problem. You have a normal situation. All scopes with real wide FOV when placed on long barrel rifles allow you to see the end of barrel. This is completely normal it is not a problem.
