What calibers has Remington chambered the left-handers in?
What left hand 700's are available in carbine length barrels?

Varmint Hunter,

Thanks for the current listing. Were other calibers offered in past years? Or has Remington pretty much just chambered for the standard calibers?

A friend of mine is hoping to find a lefty carbine length 700 in 6mm Remington or 7mm-08. I've told him it's unlikely, but that I would try and find out.

Opinions?

I built a custom 7-08 ackley improved using a 700 short LH action taken from a varmint synthetic chambered in .22-250.

Mine is in a McMillan Stock and has a hart SS barrel crowned at 20"

It wasn't cheap, but it was what I decided to do after waiting for 5 years for remington just to offer its model 7 in a left handed version.

Got tired of waiting and bit the bullet to the tune of about $1,850, but it is a lifetime investment for me and it will shoot well.

Although it's not a M 700, Remington did chamber a LH Model 788 in 6 mm Rem, my son's first centerfire rifle. Plain looking but shoots really well. I have targets he shot at 10 years of age, 30 years ago, which many men would be proud of.

If I were looking, I wouldn't be afraid to pick up one of these.

Your friend may want to go with a pump in the 18 1/2"  or 20" barreled .30-06 Using the Reduced Recoil ammo' from the factory, or else loading his own with non- magnum primers and very slow powder for good load density.     H-4831 with Win' large rifle primers would probably be a good combo' for high load density with low velocity of the 'ejecta'.

You may hear some crying about the high load density with slow powders causing recoil -- but it is easier on the recoil because its velocity and the projectiles velocity are so much lower.   You just can't explain it some people, however........because they just don't get it!

Take care,
