Newport 410 shotgun
« on: October 05, 2004, 07:05:59 AM »
I believe I have a question for you scattergun repairmen in New England.  I have a 410 single shot with the marking of "Newport" on the side of the action.  My guess is, it goes back to the 50s or possibly early 60s. The Newport to me indicates it came from that part of the country.  There are no mfgr markings on the gun to identify who or where it was made.

Like most single shots in their useful life, this one has a stock that is broken apart with some sections missing.  I refinished the gun and the metal is real nice.  Now I need a butt stock.  It's not an expensive gun because both the forearm and stock appear to be soft or at best a low grade of hard wood.  The butt plate has no markings on it either.  If anyone knows where I can get a replacement I would appreciate it.

This weapon is of a group known as store brand guns.  They were made made by gun companies for a store or group of stores to be sold under the stores particular brand name.  The 'Newport' was made by IverJohnson and is known as the 'Champion' under the Iver Johnson name.  GunPartsCorp should be able to help with the butt stock..  I will post their link below..
