Swapping barrels on S&W model 27
« on: October 08, 2004, 05:57:09 PM »
I have a 6" and a 4" model 27 S&W revolver. One has excellent frame and cylinder. The other has excellent barrel. Who would be a good smith to swap barrels and make one really good gun and one truck gun out of the two?

Thanks HW

Terry K. Kopp
Rt. 1, Box 224 F, Lexington, MO 64067; (660) 259-2636

He has a good reputation, but I haven't used him.

You also might try calling Simmons Gun Repair, (913) 782-3131. The address is 700 S. Rogers Road, Olathe, KS. They have been doing business since 1946.

hunterwarrior - why don't you call Smith and Wesson's Custom shop, tell them what you have and what you want to do and see what they can do for you.  They can probably rebarrel the gun with the good frame and cylinder for what you might pay a gunsmith to swap, and they would reblue the piece and tune it for you too.  You just might wind up with two nice guns and then you would have your choice of which one you want to 'truck' around with.  HTH.  Mikey.
