Unusual Cartridge
« on: May 06, 2003, 05:37:04 PM »
I need some help identifing this one.
     The case and bullet both appear to be of gilding metal.
The bullet is .258 in dia.almost hemispherical in form,it protrudes .146 from the case.

      Length of the cartridge is .933.

      The unusual features of this cartridge are;
#1 small battery cup primer.
#2 the case is made of 2 layers of metal,the outer layer is shorter than the inner layer forming a slight shoulder.

      The length from the base of the inner layer is .787,the length of the outer layer is .573.

      Neck dia. is .286,head dia. .311,shoulder dia. .307,rim dia. .319,rim thickness .060.

      Cartridge weight 99.4 grs.

      It appears to be quite old.

      I purchased it from an old gentleman for 25 cents,he could not identify it either.

      Is this for real or is it a clever hoax?

       Thanks,
       WC
