Encore Laminated Thumbhole Just picked it up.

Just pick up a Encore Laminated Thumbhole stainless steel 50cal Muzzleloader. What a beautiful gun. :-D  I installed the 25ACP breech plug and put a Leupold 2X7X33mm scope with Warne All Steel Maxima rings and base. I also ordered a 300Win Mag barrel for it. Can't wait to get to the range. :D

Beautiful setup, but it ain't made for packing up a mountain, is it.  I know because mine is almost identical to that (minus the thumbhole).  I'm guessing mine weighs about 8 1/2 to 9 pounds.  But, it points and shoots great and has little felt recoil, even with the standard 1/2" recoil pad.  Mine likes 777 fffg loose at 110 grains under a 200 grain Dead Center.  Will shoot about .8 so far.

I went to my local gun shop and they had 4 of the Encore Muzzleloader set up. It is a special run with the Laminated Thumbhole stocks. The stocks are made by Fox Ridge outfitters. I had to order the forearm for the 300 win mag barrel I just ordered, I had to order it from Fox Ridge. If you have seen the Omega Laminated Thumbhole stocks, the Encore is like that, but gray not that red looking color. I do not have any pics as of yet.

Mine is about 8 lb with the scope and mounts. But it sure will tame the recoil.  :D  I am going to try the same load my other 50 cal likes. 295 gr. power belts and 100 gr. of triple7 using a 25 ACP breech plug.

I've seen the thumbhole stocks in the flyer. Sweet! If I had an Encore the thumbhole stock would go well with my other two Thumbhole stocked muzzleloaders.

You've got the 25 ACP plug? Hows it do? I've been wanting to get one for my Omega, but have been a little put off by the price. Nearly $60 for a part that gets replaced every few years is a little pricey.

You know Vapour, a new stock is not considered a gun....so it won't violate that no-new-gun-for-a-year promise to your wife :)

LOL.  I just told her yesterday about the collapsible stock coming for my AR.  This year has really helped me improve the guns that I already owned--as well as massive reloading supply purchases.

I have 3 of the 25ACP breech plugs. I have one in my .45 cal Encore and one on you .50cal Encore and one for my Encore muzzleloader pistol in .50 cal. IMO it is great if you shoot triple7. I also have excellent accuracy using it.  :D
