Hooked....

I've been a shooter/reloader all my life and never fired a Contender until last week.

I went to a friend's ranch where there is a 14" steel gong at 400 yards. He has an older model .223 Contender with iron sights (the rear sight is not even at the breech but down the barrel).

I laid down on my back and held my left fist as a head rest and rested the "pistol" on the right side of my boot and hit the gong first shot...I proceeded to repeat that many times with some "factory" ammo !!

So now I'm tryin' to learn from this forum which/what/caliber I want...

it's early to decide but I'm liking those case hardened frames, 12-14" barrels, and 6.5JDJ caliber....is this about the hottest 6.5 the G2 will safely handle?

Yes, the 6.5 JDJ is a great round.  I've been looking for a used one since I started shotting TC's 3 yrs ago.  Now I have 7 frames and 9 barrels, but no 6.5 cartridges.  I only want the JDJ cartridge for that caliber, but appartently everybody who has one wants to keep it.  So, if you want one you'll have to save your pennies and go directly to SSK industries.  I can't say that I have a single favorite for my TC, I enjoy shooting all of them.  Just can't find the time to shoot them all.
