204 Ruger in a Contender

Is any one experimenting with a 204 Ruger in Contender?  What kind of performance and velocity are you getting?  One would think it would be an excellent chambering for the Contender.

Blessings!

There's some velocity info on Bullberry's site as far as a cut down what it was down to like 15" I believe from a rifle barrel.  According to them once it got below the 15" mark muzzle blast became a problem for the chrono.

I've been shooting some of the Hornady 32gr. manufactured ammo. Best I can do is an 1 1/2" @ 100 yards. I tried some 40 grainers this evening and only one bullet just caught the edge of my target. I print my targets on 8 1/2 by 11 typing paper. I went back to the 32's  and shot a five shot 1 1/2" group. I'll probably get out tomorrow and try the 40's again, with a bigger piece of paper just in case that little nip on the edge wasn't a one holer. I was hoping I wouldn't have to reload for the 204 but I'll be looking for some dies and 35gr. Bergers soon. I'll post the results of the 40's when I shoot'em. Oscar-eleven

 have 14" in R204   Loading my own using 26g of Accurate 2015 with hornady 32 gr v max.  It runs about 3500fps and groups 4 shots inside a nickel at 100 yds.  Tried a bunch of other loads but this was best for me.  Hope to do some squirrel hunting this fall with it

Had a chance to shoot  the factory Hornady 40 gr. Vmax today. Conditions were close to perfect. Fired a 5 shot group. Only 3 printed on the target. Using the word "group" in reference to the 5 shots fired is stretching the truth. Went back to the factory 32 grain Vmax's and shot my best group so far, 1". I guess my barrel doesn't like the heavier bullet. I'll do some more messing around with the 40's when my dies come in and I can reload my own.  Oscar-eleven
