Powder Sensitivity
« on: October 11, 2004, 10:30:00 AM »
Hello fellow Muzzleloaders,

About a month ago I was doing some long range practice (getting ready for deer season!) with my muzzleloader at a friends. I use Hodgdon's Triple Se7en Pellets.  As we were finishing up as the sun was setting a dew rolled in.  I didn't think my pellets got damp however I'm noticing a slight uneven look to the color of the pellets.  Now I'm concerned some moisture got into them.  I almost bought another box of pellets and thought I would use the ones in question for target shooting. Am I too concerned about it?  Should these pellets be fine? Not sure how sensitive they can be. Thanks for all and any input.

Honestly? I don't know. I would agree with your idea of getting a new box for hunting. Just check for a difference in where they're hitting before you hunt. It never hurts to be cautious. I always store my open powder containers in a sealed ziplock bag. I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.
