Sighting in methods

I would like to get opinions on the best way to sight in for the different
distances used in SB Rifle Silhouette. Is there a rested (steady) position
which will give settings which would be transferable to the standing
position, with or without a consistent offset ?
Secondly when I have my settings which work on our range, what if any,
changes will I have to make when shooting on other ranges e.g. where the
bays may be at different relative heights to the shooters position ?

I'm not an expert...But the way I sight in is, off a bench with the sand bags on the rifle where I put my hand. Which for me is just in front of the trigger guard. When I stand up, I cannot tell any differences in the zeros.
     For your second question I sight in before every match at every range. And the sight zeros will change. Why (?) Blame the weather, the moon, or here in California earth quakes.
     Hope this sheads a little light on the subject. It may get someone that really know to speak up.

i sight in off-hand.  no worries about changes from the bench and don't have to carry around a rest.  but then i also herd sheep competitively and antique shop...  so i don't know if you should be listening to me.

joecoie. I benched my rifle @ 40m. Then stand and shoot 10 shot groups (2-3 atleast) to see where I'm hitting in the offhand position. Adjust accordenly. Move to 60m repeat, and so on.....

I'm not smart enough to compensate for weather changes, sun, shade, etc. which is probally one of the reasons I'll never make Master. If the range allows sighting in prior to the Match I may make small adj. on elevation if needed for that day.

the affects for your bullet impact will be temperature, humidity, and elevation to the sea level, I think that it is not wise  not to check your zeroes before competition, not only any of the factors could affect your zeroes but also maybe some strange shakeup during transportation,
most of the time your zeroes will be the same so only what you are wasting is few shots (20 at the most) just to reasuring yourself.
