HELLO
WELL I GOT MYSELF A .308 24"SS BARREL AND GOT IT TO THE RANGE
THE PAST 2 WEEKENDS AND IM STUMPED
THE LOAD I AM USING IS 165 HORNADY SST WITH 42.5g OF IMR 4064
NEW WINCHESTER BRASS CCI 200 PRIMERS AND A MILD CRIMP
AND THE GROUP IS STRINGING 3-4 INCHES ALL OVER THE PLACE I THOUGHT IT MAY BE MY LOADS SO I WENT TO THE GUN SHOP AND GOT SOME FACTORY 150g BUT THEY DID THE SAME THING BUT A LITTLE TIGHTER COULD IT BE THE BARREL IM AT A LOSS ANY IDEAS?

I would check to see if the forearm is touching the barrel anywhere. I like to use small neopreme washers between the forend and the barrel. I find that the forearm barrel connection is the first thing to check out when your having accuracy problems.

I've got the exact same setup, and 150gr sierra pro hunters in front of 43gr of imr 4895 with Win. brass and primers, shoots as good as I could want. 165 gr Nosler BT's and 41gr of powder shoot as well or better. I would first check your rail and rings for play. I haven't swapped out the washers but It sure doesn't seem like a bad Idea, especially if everything else failed. Oh yeah, I did that trigger spring bending also and it worked well. A better trigger pull can't hurt (if yours is factory). Keep us posted on your progress and good luck.

i did not mention and i don't know if it matters but i only have about 150 rounds through it did yours start off shaky and get better as you got more rounds through it my rings are millet .also i am using a simmons aetec scope on it i have never used a simmons scope before could that be a poss issue as well i apprecte any feedback as this is driving me crazy whitetail season is creeping up on me fast i will try the washer trick this weekend an se if that helps

It was definitely shaky at first but by 150 I'm sure it was broken in. I can't say how long it took cause I was playing around a lot with loads and haven't gone back to see if the ones that didn't work at first, still don't. Good luck

I got my son an Encore in 308 & 209X50 and we had some real sorry patterns when we first shot the 308 bbl. I glas-bedded the fore arm and it shot better. After about 75 rounds it really started to settle down. It now does 3/4-1".
The 209X50 shined and still shines bright. 3 shot one holer @ 50 yds.

Well, I finally got the scope on mine so I'll let you know how the groups are. If course, this is just for hunting, so I'll be happy as long as I'm getting it in an 8" circle...

However, I and it should do better than that.

One thing's for sure... I'm glad I went with the Warne scope mount from Foxridge... everything lined right up.. easy to adjust.

I'm going to sight it in tomorrow afternoon.
