is anyone happy with there walther p22?

i,m looking at a walther p22. anyone p[leased with there,s have heard bad press about the first ones. tried one a few years ago , it had a crappy trigger. the one i,m looking at is much better!(trigger) gun store owner says it,s a newer one. better version!? is he just a salesman or is he telling the truth? are the newer ones better?

I was also thinking of the Walther in .22 rimfire.  Seems like a decent gun, but why are the grips so small?

Bought one for my better half because of the grips. It's nice that I can swap out the back strap in about a minute to make it reasonable for my fairly large hands. It shoots pretty smooth but the trigger could use some help. It's only about 10 months old so I don't know old or new version. Sadly, it's not nearly as accurate as I believe it should be even with the extended barrel on. Maybe it's my fault, pistols aren't really my strong point. With the exception of the mag droping slightly out of place occationally it has always cycled without a problem though.

I have an early one.  It does occasionally jam, but that is my experience with all rimfires.  I dont use it for defense so the reliablity is a nonissue.  The reliablity has increased with time.  remington golden bullets work as well as the CCIs recommended by many.

My mother has the two barrel set, and she loves it.  The trigger is ok, I think there was a change after the first year of production, and it is reasonably accurate and reliable.  It is a plinker not a target gun.

I bought one, ostensibly for my wife, and so far I like it fine.  We tried out a friends before we bought ours, probably fired 150 to 200 rounds through his before we bought ours.  I have put 100 rounds thru mine, I mean, "ours".  I think it is reasonably accurate for a short barrel .22 auto.  I think I have had one or two failures to fire or chamber a round out of the 100 rounds so far.  I believe it will be more reliable as it gets broken in.  Nice and small and very light.  I like it.

0 misfires, 0 failures.....

I sure did not like my p22 at first. Jam..jam...jam... safety engauging due to the slide movement. It would not shoot remmington bulk or winchester.. but all that changed when the diet was switched to federal... now she shoots.. a lot of fun.. the only complaint now is the barrell nut coming loose.. have tightned man times. I am going to try a dab of 222 smal screw locktite. just a dab.

My experience exactly.  Got mine for my young sons to shoot.  But I like it too.  A friend tried mine and got one for himself.

I just got one of the newer series.  No problem with the safety, no jamming (it DOES like hi-velocity ammo), and it is quite accurate.  The trigger is good for a double action, of course not a nice as a good 1911 trigger, but still better than most found on a ruger .22 semi-auto.  I love the size and light weight!  This is my new 'woods walking' gun for those times that I want to carry a .22.  Guess the old Bearcat will have to get a little jealous.  That old Bearcat was great to carry but was always a pain to load (tight chambers, it was always hard to push the cartridges into the chambers)  The Walther is more accurate also.  Of course the Walther just doesn't have that old 'single action' charm but it does it's job better, so it will stay!  44 Man
