Winchester Model 100 Safety
« on: October 09, 2004, 04:17:25 AM »
A friend gave me a Win. Model 100, 308, Semi Auto. Great looking gun, shoots well.It is a right hand safety and i would like to switch it to a left hand safety. I don't mind the brass shooting by me, my concentration is good and glasses keep it safe. It is a pain going for the safety and fumbling with it. How hard is it to switch it to left hand. or am i stuck with hand to hand combat with it in the field.  Thanks,

Push your safety half way, give it about a 1/4 turn counter clock wise, and remove it.    Be really careful you do not loose the detent plunger though this should not pop out.    Reverse the safety, and you may have to push up the detent plunger with a small screw driver, and reinstall.    That is all there is to it!!!!    If you do have problems give me a call and I will talk you through it.   (By the way I am a gunsmith and have done this many times.)     The # is 207-938-3595
There is no such thing as over kill!!!!  :-)

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if anybody had even heard of the gun. It is a good shooting gun but a pain with the safety. I will switch it and once again Thank-you. If i get stuck i will definitely give ya a call. Have a good one sir.
