T/C G2 w/ 45/410 Barrel, Questions
« on: October 13, 2004, 08:18:27 AM »
We love to 'Bunny Blast'!  I was thinking that the 45/410 barrel might be just the thing.  How is it?  Is it accurate in the 45 Long Colt mode?  Will it take 3" 410's or just the 2 1/2".  What's y'alls experience?
Thanks and Gig''em

IMHO, it's the most fun barrel you can put on a Contender.
About 25 yards is max for me & the target better be movin' slow :)
It does take the 3" shells & recoil is not really that bad.
My barrel is about 15 years old & I have never shot a 45 thru it, so I can't help ya on the accuracy. With a 10 barrel, after you take away the very long chamber (about 3 5/8 lg) & then the 1 1/2 for the choke tube It doesn't really leave much rifiling (about 5")

The only bad thing, is that I liked it so much I had to buy a new frame for the 410 cause I got sick & tired of swapping barrels. :)

its chambered for the 3" shell.  Mine is quite accurate using the 45 LC..but it seems to like the 300 grainers hot loaded most  Just never forget to remove the choke before shooting the pistol rounds.  On the shotshell side of things, mine likes the smaller shot, much better patterns than the larger shot. 7 1/2 patterns best.  Have used mine on squirrels and crows.

I agree with Special Ed.  It is the most fun barrel.  The recoil with 410s is mild, even 3 inch.  I use my to shoot clay targets.  You have to pick your shots, but it is very do-able.  I have never shot a 45 colt through mine.

As stated above, a blast to shoot. I have killed a young turkey (~6" beard) with mine @ about 15 yards using 3" #4's; by the way it is a 10" barrel. And I also love to try my hand at bustin' clay birds, but it is very humbling. Have yet to pattern and different distances.
