Hi all!

I know many people have problems with Ruger Vaqueros shooting low and to the left. Many times they are jerking the gun when firing. People may also file the front sight down, I've heard.

But, I bought a Vaquero last month and I shoot it HIGH and LEFT. I shot with my left hand and had the same results. How in the world do I fix this??

If I aim at the very bottom right corner of the targets at CAS, I normally hit them. Should I just learn to adjust like that or get it fixed?? Does this take a gunsmith?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, that is a problem. You didn't say what kind of loads you are shooting.
RVs can be filed a tad wider at the rear sight notch to the side the windage is off. Elevation can be adjusted with loads.
You do have an unusual problem though and your options would be to send it back to ruger or more expensively, send it to a good gunsmith and get an action job and sighted in POA. I guess that since it is new, I would send it back to ruger. They have a reputation of decent warranty work.

Yeah I was thinking of sending it bsck to Ruger, thats probably what I'll do. I am just shooting factory Winchester .45 LC Cowboy Loads, 240 gr.

Yup, you might as well take advantage of their warranty. Factory loads would probably shoot close to center I would guess, so you really must have a couple of problems going. The barrel would need turning and maybe something is going on with the muzzle. Best to let them fix it. I have always heard they do you right.
Speaking of that kind of stuff, the only thing I ever sent back for work was a Marlin. Those guys really are great. I was more than satisfied with their warranty. :grin:

Kinda sad that I've heard of many cowboys doing this (sending them back) But the good news is that the revolver is fixed when it comes back. Know it is a frustration but in the long run worth it.

Send it back... and report back here.
Also, make sure they do it right the first time. Usually Ruger is great, but not every time.

Hey All,

Well, I sent my Ruger back for sight alteration, easy as pie! I am anxiously awaiting its return.

In the meantime, I have a question for all you pocket pistol enthusiasts....I picked up an old S&W .32 Lemon Squeezer at a Gun Show this weekend. I am not sure what generation it is, but I do know it was made before 1898. It has some blue left, but is hardly pitted at all. It came with original black grips along with what the vendor said were real pearl or ivory grips, I forget what he said. They have a swirl to them so I assume pearl? Total Cost $250. Was this price about right?

Also, should I take it to a gunsmith before I shoot it?

Any input would help, thanks!
