7000 or 981T
« on: October 16, 2004, 12:36:12 PM »
Ok my b-day is in less than 20 days, and I have narrowed down the options to these two....i feel they are reasonably priced, and I have heard they are excellant shooters.......i really dont care if it is a semi-auto or a bolt, but as long as it is ACCURATE, ACCURATE, ACCURATE, idc.....will be used for stalking down a road for tree rats, and rabbits, but mainly as a sniper gun for (the same) in my deer hunting stand...i will be putting a scope on it.....any suggestions?? TIA!!!!!

Talk about apples & oranges.  You have semi-auto vs bolt & detachable clip vs tubular mag issues.  981T is the way to go if you want a bolt action and then you can spend the your savings on a scope. If you want a semi-auto and plan to scope the rifle anyway go with a model 60.  I have a model 60 with a scope on it and don't see how any semi-auto could be more accurate.  The rifle is more accurate than I can shoot it.  Accurate & reliable.  A tube fed mag gives you more capacity and is trouble free whereas detachable mags can be a problem.  I have three of the Rom M69s that use detachable mags and they all mess up a little from time to time.  First cut is tube fed vs detachable mag.  Second cut is semi-auto vs bolt action, or visa versa.  Whatever, but your two choices are very different kind of rifles.  Personally, 981T is going to be hard to beat and is considerably cheaper if you plan to get NIB.
