Smoke less Bullet Lube
« on: October 19, 2004, 04:10:55 PM »
Hello Guys :D

How do you make smoke less Bullet Lube. I'm using a mix of paraffin, bee wax and vaseline. With a 48:48:4 proportion makes a lot of smoke but sticks nice to the bullets . If I put more vaseline it smokes less but makes a sticky lube which is messy to work with. I use them mostly with 9 mm and .40 s&w. And using WIN 231 powder.

I use a 50/50 mix of paraffin and vaseline, with some pine scent mixed in and have no problems with smoke.  The lubes I've used with beeswax almost always smoke quite a bit more, so I don't use it.

I like the NRA 50/50 formula the best.  bpjon's recipe is good however. (sans the pine scent)  My experience has shown me that the "messier" the lube is the better it works.
