What would be a good bullet,factoryload for a bolt gun with 20 inch barrel in .270? This will be a deer gun.

Most factory loads in .270 have either the 130gr or 150gr, either of which is sure death on deer. My personal choice is also the 130gr Remington corelokt. They have never let me down in 20 years of use.

I agree with the Remington Express CORE-LOKT(I have used them for YEARS without a problem) but this year I am going to be using Remington Premier CORE-LOKT ULTRA Bonded...In my Ruger M77 the ULTRA has the same exact point of impact as the Express CORE-LOKT but the groups shrunk roughly 50%...I am very impressed with the new Premier CORE-LOKT ULTRA and although they are rather expensive, they seem to be worth it as long as you reserve them just for hunting....and going by the penetration/expansion tests they outperform both partitions and "tipped" bullets overall...I guess I will find out...

130-gr. Nosler Partition or 140-gr. AccuBond.  130-gr. Core Lokts to practice or hunt with.

When you consider that there is not a deer on the planet that cannot be taken with a 25 caliber rifle and that those bullets top out at 120 grains, then the 130 gr. in the 270 should make'm shake in their boots!

Deer aren't all that hard to kill.

Most every 130 grain bullet that is loaded by Remington, Winchester, Federal, Hornady etc. is designed with deer sized game in mind.

That being said, try several different brands of 130 grain factory loads and shoot the one your rifle likes best.

Where did you find a 20" barrelled .270, if you don't mind my asking?

pobably 150 gr hornady interlock, 57.5 grs h4831 fed 215 primer,
or maybe 130 gr corelokt 59.5 grs h4831 215 primer.

If it`s a " core-lokt" you can`t go wrong. IMO
