Ok, Im a noob to the shooting world.
background info
I go to UT...go horns!
I leterally have no experience with firearms.

I was checking around and I'd like to get a Marlin 981T as a starter rifle. A couple of my friends recommended it bc it was so darn cheap. Other than that, I don't know much about the gun. I plan to use it at a range (Red's indoor in ATX) and sometimes for a little small game.

Is it a good buy?
Accurate?
Would you get one? (If you already have one, if you go back in time..would you still get it?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

no not yet, but "from what I hear", it is a AWSOME gun for $135......A guy at Rimfire Central said that he can put 10 shots in one hole at 25 yards with his......thats about as good of accuracy as I would EVER need......i think im goin to get one for my b-day......itll be my first .22lr, and i think it should work out fine!!

just to chime in about what you can hunt.......i would think that most hunting is done for squirrels, and second would be rabbits.......then it can also kill a variety of other animals.......raccoons, oposseums, armadillos, you name a small creature it will probably be able to kill it........im going to use it for a sniper gun, when i go deer hunting......when a rabbit or bushy tail pops up, i'll take him out with some sub-sonics, or shorts.......ill have some meat for the stew/freezer, and it wont mess up the hunting.......maybe the biggest you could go, would be a fox or coyote.......but you would have to have the right ammo, and be a very good shot........hope this helps

A great place to start...probably the best accuracy you can buy for the $$ spent.
The Marlin bolt actions are not just good "starters", they are also good "keepers".

Just my two pennies..
