Barrel Question on Ultra Slug Hunter
« on: October 15, 2004, 09:20:15 AM »
Okay, i shot my new gun today (Tracker II plus), same thing as Ultra slug hunter, i got thinking, rifle barrels wear out, what about shotgun barrels, i only shoot sabots out of it and clean it very well, How many shots should a heavy barrel last for? Or doens't  any one worry about it since the barrel only comes in contact with the plastic? Should the barrel every wear out in somebodys lifetime?

ive never heard of one of these wearing out. rifles experience much higher pressures and velocities, not to mention direct metal to metal contact which is why they wear out eventually. even so, you have to do a lot of shooting to wear out a rifle barrel. keep your barrel cleaned and i doubt you could ever wear it out, you'd go broke first on the prices of sabots.

I can't imagine evr wearing out a slug gun barrel. I think about all the wear the barrels got that I used in the Army and always wonder how much shooting some folks must do to wear out a rifle barrel. Has anyone ever actually done this with a rifle?
