New Barrel Problem - Fixed
« on: October 12, 2004, 01:15:42 PM »
Well, I got to the range this afternoon to test the 'fix'.

What a surprise.  Instead of shooting 2 1/2"  all over the place, I'm down to about an inch, just what is advertised.  The load is the same, only a .376" oversize hinge pin.  Now I'm going to do some load development and I'm thinking of having the trigger re-worked.  It's a bit sloppy and rough compared with the Shilen competition on my Rem 700 SingleShot.  I'm sure that the groups would be smaller with a better trigger.

I got my frame from E. Authur Brown (Eabco).  Before they shipped it, I had them do a trigger job because I had heard the triggers were kinda sloppy.

Well, I have two Rem 700 both custom.  I thought they had a crisp trigger until I got this encore.  Wow, is it nice.  I would highly recommend EABCO.
Also, I understand that Mike B does good work on the triggers also.

Thanks for the tip.  I like to hear about success and satisfactiion.  I'll check them out as soon as it gets too cold to hit the range.

I just got a 45/70 barrel back from Ea Brown.  I was very impressed with thier work and they were spot on with thier estimated completion date. I would recomend that you look to them for future work.  Good luck.
