Went Scouting Today
« on: August 14, 2004, 03:22:54 PM »
Today I went to my main duck hunting lake and it is primed and ready for season.  A lot of vegetation and potential.  The only thing I need is about three feet more water to make it perfect.

Time to pray for rain.

Four weeks until teal season and about three months until the real season starts.

I can't wait!!!!!!

I am just a little west of OKC in Yukon.

The Wildlife Commissioner hasn't released the dates yet.  It usually is the last week of Oct. for NW Oklahoma and the first or second weekend in November for the rest of the state.

We do have teal season starting next weekend.  I went to my "honey hole" yesterday.  Water is just right for teal.  I just hope the birds come down and the Corp doesn't open the dam.

I will be up your way in a couple of months.  The second Saturday of November is the time to be in Kansas.  It's opening day of pheasant season.

It's looking better this year than last.
Last year was great for us 56 cocks on the ground by noon.

Ya teal is in 2 weeks, muzzle loader deer in 3 weeks, a week break. Oct 9 regular duck opens get to run the ducks until Nov.13 pheasant season. Hunt pheasants for 3 weeks then rifle deer season. Then back to ducks but by then the goose starts getting good.

That doesn't count crow quail rabbit squirrel and chicken.

Man O Man I love the fall.

Hey Warf, perhaps I should schedule a visit to my uncle in Hayes next fall. Sounds like a shotgunners paradise. Love to get into some of them big flocks of geese and I don't think I've ever seen 56 Pheasants in my life in the wild....

Of course Sunday morning would be spent at Church as my uncle is a Lutheran minister...

Rumor has it Coyote and Bobcat are plentiful in Kansas. I don't know jack about hunting predators except what I've seen on videos, but I would love to give it a whirl.

Good hunting to you and be safe.
