I'm looking at a Browning Buckmark as a trail pistol for this coming grouse season. I see allot of comment on the MkII's but not much on the Browning's. Are they good pistols? They do feel good in my hand as they have a slightly better grip for my hands. Anyone have any experiences good or bad with them? Is there any partiular ammo they like or don't like?

Love them. Very accurate and dependable. My latest one is a full camo version. Just couldn't pass it up when I saw it setting there in the counter so it came home with me.

As with any rimfire you need to let it tell you what ammo it prefers. Just like working up loads for a centerfire.

I sure like mine. It has been reliable so far, and a pleasure to shoot from the first. It came with a good trigger.

I had for for a bit. traded it for a Single Six (I'm a SA fan more so than an auto fan) Quite accurate but it was very finiky (SP?) about ammo. Lots of stovepipes. Now have a 22/45 for target work but will be getting another Buckmark. Didn't leave that much of a sour taste. :wink:

I've tried several and currently own a 10 Silhouette version. I like em. Triggers (on most) are better that the MKII rugers out of the box. Fit is good and finish (just) OK. Most will tell you they shoot better than they can .(I'm one of them.) Reliability in my experience has been excellent as long as you keep it reasonably clean and fed it ammo it likes. ( Same as any rimfire.) Drawbacks are that extra mags are expensive and accessories/aftermarket parts are not as plentiful as with the rugers. You might check over at the Browning forum @ www.rimfirecentral.com. Lots of buckmark owners/discussions there.

We have one and it is excellent but it required a trigger job. The factory trigger pull was at least nine pounds. I prefer the Buckmark to the Rugers.

i've had one for years and LOVE it. the only time i have ever had a stovepipe problem was when i had let the gun get EXTREMELY dirty, and one other time, when the sight base screw became loose. i will never be without a buckmark

I don't actually own a Buckmark, but a friend of mine owns one and I have put several hundred rounds through it. The one thing I don't like about it is the fact that out of the 10 rounds it can take in the mag, 2 or 3 or even 4 sometimes are duds. Now keep in mind when I fire another box of .22 through another gun, no duds or only one or two are found. But this happens almost every single time I feed it another 10 rounds through the gun. Must be the one of 5 million sour Buckmarks!

I definetly ain't using Remington Thunderbolts. I was actually using CCI and Federal...but like I said....same brand of ammo could fire through my Savage Mark II .22 rifle with no duds or only one or two. But the same box would go through the Buckmark and I would find 3 sometimes 4 duds in one clip of 10! Oh well. C'est la ve

Did somebody mention Remington rimfire ammo? Yecch! Pew-ee! Gag! Gag! That's the most unreliable stuff I've ever used.

Try the Walmart-Federal bulk packs instead. I've had very few failures with that wonderful stuff. It's just great.

I got the Camper last year and love it. Best glove/tackle box handgun for the money.
