REDHAWK1, tHE 300mags Make fine longrange hunting rifles, especially in brown bear country. I had a Tika rifle when they first became available, top notch in everyway. It was a 25/06 with a leupold VX2 4-12 on it. A real tack driver. The 454 casule is a fine hunting cartridge for hunting or protection in bear country. With the right loads it gives you 45/70 performance in a hand gun. Although still not ideal at the ranges you were shooting. Good luck on a larger carabou next year if you get to come back.
