Bringing another into the fold
« on: January 26, 2003, 06:15:00 AM »
Was out at our monthly match yesterday.  46 degrees, rain and wind--perfect day to shoot!
Got a buddy from USPSA to come out.  He was just going to watch so by the end of the 1st stage we had him shoot it after the rest of the posse was done and by the middle of the second stage he was blasting away with the rest of us. As expected he had numerous offers of guns and leather for the match.
Nothing unusual there but here's the great part:  he brought his Mrs. and as we went done the line she was looking at all the guns and saying that guesss they are going to have to get 4! revolvers and a couple of shotguns and rifles (each).  She fell in love with the give and take amoung the group and had a great time.
We went to eat and my Mrs. shows up (from home)--now she is wiling to go and try it (just not in conditions like yesterday.)  She likes the people in the club (not sure yet about the alisases though.)  Looks like that cloud had a silver lining.
Not shooting today as the temp is 40 with harder rain and we can't get to the range so off the do some gun cleaning.

Check the SASSNET.com to see what clubs are in your area.  Then go on out and let them know you are interested in CAS.  More than likely they will load you up with loaner guns and leather and let you shot the match.  Just remember to be polite and ask questions.

SASS also has an RO I manual online.  It gives you a good idea about what the rules are and how to go about playing this here sport/hobby/adiction.

more later as the elves are coming in (I be a teacher--it pays for my cowboy stuff)
