"Calif. Attorney General Pushes for Law Requiring Handgun Ammo to Carry Traceable"
Associated Press (10/07/04); Marquez, Jeremiah

California Attorney General Bill Lockyer supports legislation that would place a microscopic code on handgun ammunition for tracking by law enforcement. The codes would be stored in a statewide tracking system, which would also contain information about the purchasers. The system would reportedly be the first of its kind in the country and manufacturers would incur added costs of no more than 1 cent per bullet for placing the codes on slugs and casings. Gun and ammunition makers and firearm organizations oppose the measure, on the grounds that it would only complicate matters. Randy Rossi, who heads the firearm division of the Justice Department, reports that in a recent demonstration,180 out of 200 coded bullets were still readable after being fired at walls, car doors, and gelatin to simulate human targets. Lockyer says he has discussed with state legislators the possibility of proposing a bill to create a bullet coding system next year. http://www.ap.org

Isn't there a federal law against "recording" and keeping records on gun ownership? sounds like the ROK is trying to do what the UN wants them to. track gunowners so they can confiscate /disarm them. I'm moving to Idaho they are more reasonable and grow great potatoes.

Mr. Griggs,
Outside of California, I think you would find almost all of the western states have relatively gun-friendly laws.  Washington's constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms without the bit about the militia to fuzzy up the issue.

GUNRUNNER. Unless you registered your TRADEMARK, I doubt they could trace you.
Bj bill wanted to add tagents to all  of our reloading powder during his reign of debauchery. Every reloading manual in the world would have had to been rewritten because of the added garbage. There hasn't even been a bomb from smokeless pwdrs, but that didn't stop the dumcraps. POWDERMAN.

Whats next guns that give out their GPS location everytime you fire a shot?

Don't give'm any ideas there Hooker. They already have the technology to trace the noise of a gunshot in the big cities. Back in the 90's when I was still driving an over the road semi and going back and forth to kommifornia we always called it "the land of fruits and nuts." I think it's still that way today. :-D  :)  :-D  :)  :D
