Wild West and Brockmans

Has anyone had either of these custom gun smiths do any work on your rifles?  If so, was the work good or bad?  Was the cost worth it in your opinion?  What modifications do you feel are "necessary" to get the most  out of your rifle?  Are their sights better/worse/same as "normal" sights that you can get on lever guns?  I am looking at a Marlin 45/70 guide gun in SS but also a 44 mag looks interesting as well.  Any comments about either fo these two companies would eb appreciated.

Another poster on GB, Wilbe Lead, has a Marlin 95 that was converted to 50 Alaskan by Wild West.  I've examined and fired the rifle, and the workmanship was excellent.  Wilbe Lead seems happy with it, and maybe he'll see this thread and post some more details.  I'm also aware of the price, and it seemed reasonable, considering the amount of work that had to be done to make the conversion.  If I remember right, it's a Co-pilot model.

I have a 1895 marlin that has been totaly re-worked by Brockman,  one of his earliest guns,, scout scoped, w/quick detachyable rings, ghost ring sight, extended mag tube, cartridge trap, all sharp edges rounded, action/trigger job & more than I can recall off the top of my head.
I have taken that rifle from northern canada, to West Va, in heavy rain, and rugged conditions, never let me down.With hawk custom bullets, I have a target w/ 5 shots, at 100 yrds, that measures .80"....with 1 called flyer.

I went to college with Brockman...Gunsmithing College.   He was good when he walked through the front door.  He took a year off to go to Germany on a fellowship. He worked a year there in Mauser's Customs Shop.  When he came back he was even better.

His work is excellent.  You won't be unhappy with it.
