Some buddies and I are going to try it this year (we're mostly from AR15.com and it seems like a good way to get the mouse guns out in the winter)

Anyway one guy I hunt with has land south of Rochester with tons of deer, but we can also hunt up near Alex Bay, that might be a better bet.

aimless: the eastern part of the state is loaded with coyotes. I have them all over my place outside of Schenectady. Had a couple from Long Island visiting last week and they could not believe the songs those dogs were singing. It sounded like the 'woods were alive with the sounds of music' with the different packs yippin' and howlin' and callin' each other to dinner.

And, around here they are a bunch bigger than out west and they often look like wolves. The last one I took was almost a full 60 pounds and a mean lookin' sob. He showed no fear of me at all, until it was too late for him............... Mikey.

I live in the Southern Tier, and that is total bull that they are less plentiful. We are always seeing them and hearing them. Many a local tabby cat have become a tasty meal for them. I even had a friend who had them come into a neighbors yard and kill their cat while their kids were playing in it.

I have had the week off to hunt muzzleloading. I did not see a deer all week. I did however see yotes every day in the and all hours of the day. I am no tsaying that they wiped out the deer, but when last season I would see 13 to 15 deer regularly and none this year. I think the deer have moved away from them. However the deer I was seeing earlier there were very few fawns. Now that rifle season is open here in the north I hope to change the game a bit.

We have a lot of Yotes here in my area too!

The best thing I like about them being around is when they come out of a deer drive! It adds to the excitement!

We regularly see tracks across our yard!

After deer season is over (maybe before) I will get that new .204 barrel on the Encore and give calling them in, a try!

I've got an ar-15 on order, it should be here in a couple weeks. Where are them darn songdogs? Let me at 'em!
