Shotshells for bobcats
« on: October 22, 2004, 04:11:57 PM »
I have found some public land to hunt coyotes and bobcats on.  I have never shot a bobcat before the state just recently expanded the hunting zone in Missouri.  The problem is the public land only allows shotguns, I would much rather use my 223.  Has anyone tried those Dead Coyote shells (T hevishot) are they worth $2 a shot?  ANyone have any other suggestions of a shell to try?  I don't reload.

Thanks
E

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Some guys I used to work with were using nickel or copper plated BB's and said they dropped in their tracks. Problem is they are hard to obtain unless you reload. #4 buck works well though, I can tell you that. But if it is just for bobcat I think a #4 bird in lead or, like Ladobe said, Hevi-shot. Apparently #4 bird  lead, basic field load, works well on raccoons, so a bobcat it should work just fine I would think considering the size and weight of your mentioned game.
