remington 700bdl synthetic, parkerized or smooth finish?
« on: November 11, 2004, 02:15:44 PM »
found a pretty good deal at walmart's special order sight on the remington 700bdl with synthetic stock. i would like to get this rifle in .7mag and replace the factory stock with an aftermarket one. my question is, is the finish on the metal surface a smooth matte/satin finish or is it the parkerized type finish found on the rem. 700adl synthetic?

I have both finishes on several of mine. Go with the smooth matte it stands up to the weather better. All of my matte ones are being refinished in a matte teflon, reason being  I could sit and watch the  factory matte rust in damp or humid weather.
squeeze it, don't pull it!!!!

I have a "matte" finish on my barrel (smooth.... :? ). My rifle is a 700 ADL Synthetic so it has that matte finish. But it feels like fine sandpaper. So...can't say as I've ever felt a smooth matte finish. But I have had good luck with the coating. No rust. No pitting (even though the gun is only 3 years old). Oh well. Good luck w/ ur decision! :D
