I must have checked out for awhile on bp shooting. What does a 25 acp conversion consist of, and where do you obtain one?

25 ACP Conversion
« Reply #1 on: October 23, 2004, 10:01:12 PM »
The conversion uses a breechplug that takes a 25ACP brass case with a rifle primer in place of the 209 shotgun primer. The result is a primer with less power and elimination of the crud ring that happens with a 209 primer and 777 powder. (the 209 primer also causes a similar fouling ring with other synthetics but 777 is the worst in my rifle). The 25 cartridge case is easier to handle than the 209 also due to increased length. When the inline manufacturers were looking for a more reliable ignition source the 209 primer was the only thing immediately available that would fit in the space available. With the 25 conversion you will have to load your own primers but the results are worth the effort. You can contact Precision Rifle at (204) 949-7949 or email sales@prbullet.com check web site http://www.prbullet.com. I'm not sure how many rifles they make a conversion for. I know they handle the T/C Encore, Omega some Winchester and some CVA and I expect others. Good luck.

Thanks for the support. You may use any or all of my posts anytime you want. I try to keep the stuff simple but informative. I have a few pet ideas that may contradict others thinking; such as I am very rapidly starting to dislike 777. I know others think it is the greatest but my experience so far has been less than spectacular. I really dislike the tendency for a sharp recoil (last year I cut my forhead just over the eye and had to move scope further up the barrel). I am at the end of travel and when I shoot 777 I really back off the scope. Reporting is not too far out of my realm as I retired after 39 years as a Development Engineer for General Motors (for example read my test report on Black Mag3). I just wish the stuff was more available and a little less expensive.

I just ordered one myself. I got everything I've gotten everything I need to use it exept the breech plug (should be along any day).
