M77-MKII in 7.62X39.
« on: October 06, 2004, 04:54:37 PM »
Well have had this rifle about eleven months now.
I think it's time to send it on it's way..... Why?
The idea was to shoot cheap Russian stuff at a reasonable price, and also use it at the range shooting, while another rifle is cooling off. The old green laqered cases shot about 2 inches for five shots at 100yds. Now this new polymer coated steel cases shoot like crap. four and five inches plus, for five at 100. Tried factory stuff (USA) shoots good but at $9.95 to $14.95 for twenty the idea of cheap shooting is gone. I'd rather shoot and reload for my two 7mm-08's than start reloading for the 7.62X39. Never heard of any good accuracy from this cartridge handloading.  :(
Plan to get rid of it next week. Just can't find the green laqered cases anymore. Just sold 1400 rnds. of the grey polymered cases last week got 500 more to go.
Any suggestions?  :?

De41mag most of the cheap 7.62X39 ammo does'nt shoot very accurate.
Although I get 2-3 inch groups from my Mini 30 with Wolf ammo.
I tried reloading and it cut my groups in half.  Still not a tack driver but it serves my purpose as a light fast brush gun for deer. My reloads 110gr Barnes X bullets. Ruger puts barrels with a 308 bore on guns in this calibre not 311. The 308 bullets seem to do lot better job in the accuracy department anyway. At least in my experience. I have'nt reloaded for this cal in a few years the Wolf ammo gets the job done besides I hate chasing brass. The little Mini sure can fling them cases.

I restocked, rebarreled to 6mm PPC using a Krieger bbl and added a Timney trigger.  Accuracy improved a little
