Howdy ya'll, And yes, I have my two Hog traps baited and waiting.
Fur won't be ready for 20 days, but Hog are rooting up my entire woods!
My friend from the fourth grade,{1959} old Randy, has been saving me spilled feed at the Aggie feed store where he is the manager, and I am looking forwards to a good year. Two days ago I took me a long walk on the old trail and the trapline I have worked on for the last 20 years, and I am getting ready to {as old woodcock used to say} pinch a few toes.
I've been working on my old traps, getting in new... {old used} traps, getting my lure and bait supply ready for the last 6 months, and since it got cooler taking 6-8 mile walks two or three times a week, over the line. And as I am still recouperating from being murdered three and a half years ago, 6 miles feels like 12!
I sure could use some more chain but no time to rust chain now, and I will have to make do with what I have.
Yup, my new Hound Sandymay is real smart and she will keep me busy hunting at night, the trapline during the day, will, like last year, help me to train her and make us closer together. I have been working for this trapping and hunting season since early summer, and last week I was out on the line just walking along and it sure felt good. No people, no houses or traffic, no rules or laws or cops in everybodys face. Just the woods and fields, the creek, the wind,
the silence, and my new Hound Sandymay. I am at home again and lucky to be alive. Good trapping ya'll.
