Hey, just got my birthday present early. I'm going to sight it in this weekend. I'm going to be hunting mostly song dogs with it. Where should i start 200 yards?

You had better start at about 50yds first. This will save alot of time and ammo. oktx

I usually start at 25yds to get on paper and get the group where I want it. Then move back to 100 . Since the range I use is only 200 meters long. I finish at that range. It depends on what caliber I am shooting as to where I want my point of impact at 25. This has always worked pretty well for me.

What kind of ammo are you going to use, my ultra doesn't like the heavier bullets, really likes the 40gr. ballistic tip bullets, and most on this forum say the 45gr. HP white box winchester shoot real decent out of the handi's. I sighted mine in at 2 inches high at 100 yds. and its POI at 200 is 3 1/2 inches high. I worked the barrel over with jb bore paste to smooth out the barrel and that really seemed to help out the groups, before that they were a little erratic with an occasional flyer.

My ultra 223 has shot well from day one. I use a variety of bullets in it most often the white box 45gr win. at 200 with a 2" high at 100 it's still high at 200 about 2.5" acceptable for song dogs and ground hogs. If ya reload you will find the majic componet mix by experimentation. I tried other peoples majic loads but my rifle has it's own likes. Have many hours of fun and many clean kills.
