Adj. LOP 2 stage trigger for 1710
« on: August 02, 2004, 05:09:46 PM »
I would like to put one of the two stage adjustable LOP triggers on an Anschutz 1710. The new 1712 Silhouette has one I believe. Champions Choice has the 5018D trigger for $265.00  (They thought this was the trigger that I needed). It would be nice to find one for less money somewhere. Any suggestions? Also does the adjustments on this trigger allow you , on a two pound trigger for example, to adj. the 1st stage to about 1 1/2lbs and the 2nd stage to 1/2 lb ? Thanks for any help.

I think that yuou can adjust them like you said, by the way the cheapest one I have seen was 285 so at 265 you are 20 bucks lower

You need the # 5109 trigger for 1700 series rifle.
Try Neal Johnsons i think they are around 210.00$.

greer, you can convert the one that you have to a really nice two stage for less than $100.00.  Neal Stepp the owner of ISS in Fort Worth, TX will sell you the part you need to change.  Nomad helped me with mine and I was very satisfied with the change.  His phone number is 817 595 2090
You can also talk to him about the LOP trigger, I believe he sells them for around $200.00

Thanks for the replies. I'll call Neil Johnson's. The adj. LOP is as important to me as the two stage feature. The 1710's factory trigger sits too far forward for my hand. I end up pushing on the side of the trigger as much as I pull back.  Thanks again.   D.Greer

Keep in mind that you can also sell the trigger in your 1710 for up-wards of $150 on e-bay or gunbroker, I know a guy who buys them *cough*. So the up-grade should be able to be done in the $50 range.

I have the 1712. Mine is set to break on 2lbs, 4ozs I think. THe first stage is 1 lb,12oz and then the second is roughly an single stage 8 oz trigger.

I called Neil Johnson's today and they said I needed the 5022 trigger for $285.00. I'll call ISS tomorrow. These triggers can be confusing even for the people who make their living selling them. Thanks GeoNLR for the tip about selling the original trigger. That will help.    greer

I called Neil Stepp at ISS and he said that the 5109 trigger is the trigger that is on the 1712 Silhouette and is actually going to take one off of a rifle and send me. Kahuna, you were right on the trigger model although Neil Johnson's thought I needed the 5022 trigger. The price from ISS was $212.00 shipped. Mr.Stepp told me to wait untill I had my trigger before putting the money in the mail. I was impressed. Thanks for the help.  Doug Greer

Best way to contact Neal is by phone.
I'm not 100% certain that he thinks the internet is here to stay.(He's 'working' on a website but it ISN'T his highest priority!)
You can try emailing ISS@concentric.net (I 'think' that's his email.) but phoning works better.

OOOPS!
Ramslammer, I failed to notice your address. Phoning would be probably a bit inconvenient!
PM me with what you want and I'll talk to Neal. I'll also confirm his email and get back to you.
Sorry 'bout that!

RamSlammer,
The current email for Neal Stepp is: I_S_S@sbcglobal.net (That's I underscore S underscore S)
If there's anything with which I can help, advise me. (Neal's shop is a ten minute drive from my door...which might explain why I don't stay up on his email address!) :)
