Went to a gravel pit yesterday a friend owns wonted to stay used to handling my 44 mag. Put the first round in took aim it goes click I thought what the heck opened it up noticed the primer had not been touched then started doing some cerise looking and found a broken firing pin. Now the thing is it had been just fine a few weeks ago,Don't know what happened or when. Now the nice think about owning more than one handy is a lot of the time you can switch barrels ,took my 357 off the receiver but the 44 on that receiver and didn't miss a lick. I won't talk about how good I did but I do think if a deer is in a hundred yrds. it is mine. Will order a new firing pin on monday. :-)

I was on Ebay the other day and someone was selling nef firing pins,maybe they are still selling them.

Better to hear that click at a gravel pit than hear it with a 300 pound hog trying to leave ya a little keep sake on yer leg.... :eek:

While you've got it apart, check the transfer bar to see that it is operating correctly. If it doesn't rise up as you cock the hammer, and stay up as the trigger is pulled, then obviously, the hammer will fall without engaging the firing pin.

That transfer is one of the first things checked almost can't wait to get into it to see if I can figger out what happened. When I was a cute little child we raised hogs meanest thing I every seen was a sow with pigs I can see how a miss fire and no back up can ruin a mans day with one bearing down on you. Think if I every hunted hogs I would want a tall tree and a side arm.

My firing pin broke on my .44 and I sent it back to NEF and they fixed it for free. Might try that. :grin:

Biggest reason I don't want to sent it back is because the season is upon us and the other receiver will probley be a friends hands, besides ti don't look too hard of a job. If I did sent it back I would have to think of another barrel to but on it and that would hurt my little head right now.
