I'm thinking about picking up a new CVA Optima. Does anyone have an opinion on this gun?

Is there really that much of an increase in performance between the 26" barrel and the 29" barrel?

If you're looking for a hammer ML and don't want to pay for the extra $'s of an Encore or Omega... take a look at the NEF Huntsman or the H&R Sidekick... American made and from all reports they are accurate, have good triggers, and made with rifle grade steel.

I'm actually torn between this gun and the Traditions Pursuit Pro now.

I second the Huntsman or Sidekick, much better rifles. The Spanish barrels (Optima, Pursuit) are softer extruded steel, not GBQ steel like the NEF's. I have a SS Huntsman along with 3 Whites, 2 Knights and a Thompson. The Huntsman is the least finicky of the bunch and shoots everything from a 220gr saboted bullet to a 460gr NE conical very well. The trigger is excellent on my Huntsman (2-3 lbs on most), you will be hard pressed to find a good trigger on an Optima or Pursuit (5-9 lbs on most). But it is your money! :wink:
