I leave Thursday morning to try my hand at handgun hunting, going to Pike County, IL.

S&W 686 with a 6" barrel, 180 grain Federal CastCore bullet.

If nothing else, it should be a great time.

I wish you well. From what I understand, PIke Co. is supposed to be polluted with deer.

Where in Pike Co are you hunting? I'll be real close to you in Calhoun Co, just South of Pleasant Hill, IL.

We had 13 shooters that took 5 deer as of Sunday (1/19) morning. However, I didn't shoot one.

I got the flu halfway through Saturday and found out Sunday morning that my dad went into cardiac arrest. After quadruple bypass he is doing fine.

All things considered......I had a really great weekend.

Though I didn't get a shot off, I am really hooked on hunting whitetails with a handgun.
