Postal Match Results
« on: November 01, 2004, 02:56:44 PM »
Ok guys.  We didn't have a lot of participation in this one.  But here are the results:

Mag41Vance had the tightest group with his 357MAX at .839".  The load was a 180 grain Cast GC driven with 19.6 grains of WC680 and set off with a WInchester 6 1/2 (SRP) primer.  Note:  There was a four shot group that measured .535".  One flyer opened it up to .839".

Leftoverdj comes in at second with a group from his 45-70 that measured .457". This one was shot with a Handi Rifle.  The load was a Lee 459-405-HB over 27 grains of 5744.

Leftoverdj also had the next tightest group measuring .858".  The load was a Lee 356-153-2B Cast bullet over AA-5 powder (Couldn't read the charge weight Emmet).  There was a four shot group that measured .351" on this card.

The fourth place card was from Mag41Vance.  His group was 1.527" and was fired from a NEF 30-30.  The load was a Hornady 110 grain JSP pushed by 36 gr of 748.  A Federal GM210 primer set the whole thing off.  This one, being a rifle caliber was the only one to be shot at 100 yards.

The fifth place card comes from H&R Bang.  His group was fired from a 44MAG Handi and measured 1.907".  His load was a 240 grain XTP HP over 19.8 grains of AA#9 set off by a CCI 300 primer.  The gun wore a 2X Weaver Pistol scope mounted "Scout Style".    There was a very good four shot group on this card that measured .917".  Just had a flyer that opened it up a little.

I would like to say that every one who participated had some great groups, especially for shooting pistol calibers.  The top three cards were shot with home cast bullets and looked really good.  I didn't turn in a card this time, but I will say that I have shot some really good groups with DJ's home cast 459-405-HP bullets.  It will group just at an inch at 100 yards when I push it with 32 grains of H4198 and crimp it just so.  This is the load that I will be hunting deer with this November.

So there they are guys.  Sorry they were so late......

8) Very Cool!! 8) Wes,
Thanks for your work on grading the cards.

"Leftoverdj comes in at second with a group from his 45-70 that measured .457". This one was shot with a Handi Rifle. The load was a Lee 459-405-HB over 27 grains of 5744. "
I'm confused.  :? .457" is smaller than .839".  That would mean that DJ cleaned my clock again. But it wouldn't be appropriate for me to beat him with his own bullets!
Looking forward to the next one.

Yep.  You're right.  I must have had the cards out of order when I made the post last night.  Sorry DJ.

Thank you for taking time to grade the cards. Did I send a 22 LR card? I don't remember.

Wait until next time. I recently shot a 11/16" 100 yard group with my new 22 magnum barrel. And it was with the Winchester Dynapoints that most find less than good. I learned from Scruffy and put a Busnell 6x18 scope on the gun. It sure makes a difference for me!

Bang, I didn't see one.  If you did, it may have been moved off of my desk during a cleaning spree.  I'll take a look around and make sure.
